FAQ’s

 

  1. How much does it cost?

As of January 2024, our tuition fees for standard classes are $125/person/day for operators working for small water systems serving a population of 10,000 or less and $250/person/day for medium and large water system operators. Medium and large water systems are those that serve a population of 10,001 or more.

Prices can fluctuate based on regular classes vs. specialty classes, on-site vs. off-site classes, and small water systems vs. medium to large water systems. Please call our offices for the specific pricing you need according to what you are planning to attend.

 

  1. When do I have to pay (by)?

Tuition is due by the first day of class.

 

  1. What are my payment options?

We take credit/debit cards, checks and cash.

  1. Will you invoice me? Yes
  2. Can I write you a check? Yes
  3. Do you take PO’s? Yes

 

  1. Do you offer student loans?

Unfortunately, no. However, we will work with students to establish a payment plan and we can offer financial aid through our grant programs. Please give us a call for more information.

 

  1. How many days do I need to come to get 36 hours?

Six days, minimum. However, to get the full range of knowledge you need for your State Licensing Exam, seven days is suggested.

 

  1. How many CEUs will I earn?

Typically, by attending our daily classes, you will receive 7 contact hours, or 0.7 CEUs. This is assuming the student participates for the full length of instruction each day, as well as completes all quizzes with a passing grade of 70% (or better) in order to obtain their certificate for the CEUs.

 

  1. What exactly does my tuition include?

Tuition includes the instruction, and any materials. We provide books, notepads/scratch paper, and pencils.

 

  1. What do I need to bring to class?

A scientific calculator is needed for any math. If you do not have one, OCT does sell them at each session. All other materials will be provided for class.

 

  1. Are there any hotels you can recommend?

You can visit our website at: https://octwqa.org/index.php/online-resources. There is a list of hotels provided there. There are other hotels nearby, if you have questions regarding those, please give us a call.

 

  1. Where are you located?

Our address is 8801 Folsom Blvd., Suite 220, Sacramento, CA 95826. We are on the North West corner of Folsom Blvd. and Watt Ave., behind the California Community Credit Union building.

 

  1. Are there food places close by?

  1. Do you have a refrigerator where I can store my food?

OCT has a refrigerator, along with bottled water and soda for sale. There is also a Keurig that students can utilize for free coffee/hot water during their session.

 

  1. Do you provide lunch or any snacks?

Typically, lunch is not provided. For classes located in remote locations, OCT will sometimes cater lunch for student convenience. If lunch will be provided, you will be notified prior to class. Light snacks may be provided at OCT’s discretion. There is also a Keurig available for student use for free coffee/hot water during their session. Bottled water and soda are also available for purchase.

 

  1. How do I sign up for the class?

Operators can sign up using the form found on our website on the classroom training page. It is a fillable form that can be saved and emailed or faxed. You can also call the office Monday through Friday, 7:30AM – 3:00PM and a customer service representative will be available to take a registration over the phone.

 

  1. Do I just fill out the form online?

The registration form is a fillable form that can be saved as a file and emailed, but is not a form that can be submitted anywhere online.

 

  1. Will you hold classes at my facility?

Absolutely. Please give our offices a call to find out more information.

 

  1. Where can I find the information for this class?

You can find more information on any of the links you see on our classroom training page. Those links take you to that specific registration form which has an information page first and the registration page second. If you do not see what you are looking for there, please continue scrolling down and look for the blue button that says “Click here for Calendar of Classes” and use the arrow keys to scroll through the months. There will be links to follow on the days we have classes.

 

  1. Do you hold zoom classes?

Yes. We can hold a zoom session. Keep in mind we need a minimum of two weeks to schedule the session and send out any materials needed for the class.

 

  1. Do you sell your books?

Yes. Please visit our website at: https://octwqa.org/index.php/online-store to peruse our many publications listed there.

 

  1. Do I get my certificate right away?

If you are taking a class at our facility, yes. This is assuming the student participates for the full length of instruction each day, as well as completes all quizzes with a passing grade of 70% (or better) in order to obtain their certificate for the CEUs.

 

If you are attending an off-site class, this depends on what has been set up with the administration on both sides of the class.

 

If you are doing an online-self paced class, no. You will receive a sample certificate upon completion of the class but will need to follow the directions given in the email that is sent in order to receive the physical certificate.

 

  1. Do you offer tutoring?

Tutoring is available, please call our offices to inquire about pricing and availability.

 

  1. I heard you have something for veterans?

OCT offers a ”no charge” course enrollment for Armed Forces personnel. To find out more information, please give us a call.

 

  1. What happens if I have to reschedule my class?

OCT will reschedule you for the next available scheduled class you can attend. In the event it is unclear when you can return and you have already paid for your class, we can keep that as a credit to be used for your next session.
