Course Description This class provides classroom and hands-on instruction in the mandated procedures required for proper handling of asbestos cement pipe (ACP), as set forth in California Code of Regulations(CCR), Title 8, Section 341.17. This class provides classroom and hands-on instruction in the mandated procedures required for proper handling of asbestos cement pipe (ACP), as set forth in California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, Section 341.17. Students will learn the health risks, possible side affects, history of, safe handling and disposal of ACP. These include: discussion on asbestosis, mesothelioma and associated smoking risks. The class also provides proper instruction on recommended cutting techniques, personal protective equipment and proper disposal of waste. A final examination will be administered and a passing grade of 70% or greater must be achieved to pass. Students that pass the course will receive a certificate as an Asbestos Cement Pipe Worker (initial training).
